  • Everlasting woes – The economy will not recover under current policies

    Indonesia, ‘The model pupil of developing countries’, as the World Bank once put it, is now looking into a deep pit.

    After six years of crisis, there are no signs of recovery for Indonesia. Key economic infrastructure has continued to degrade. Parts of many cities, especially outside Java, are now experiencing regular electricity blackouts, as the power capacity drops due to lack of maintenance or to just bad, uncoordinated, planning. The railways have seen a 64 per cent increase in accidents due to ageing tracks and facilities.

    So what has happened to the Indonesian Miracle?

  • Serangan Atas Irak, Dominasi Global AS, dan Langkah Rekolonisasi Dunia Ketiga

    Dua Kepentingan Imperialis

    Pada saat artikel ini ditulis, dua buah proposal resolusi Dewan Keamanan Persatuan Bangsa-Bangsa tengah diajukan. Yang pertama adalah proposal penggunaan serangan militer untuk melucuti “senjata pemusnah massal” yang dimiliki oleh Irak. Sebuah proposal yang sebenarnya sebatas mencari legitimasi badan internasional tersebut dan dukungan dari negara-negara imperialis lainnya. Meskipun begitu, dengan ataupun tanpa resolusi Dewan Keamanan, Pemerintahan Bush dan Blair menyatakan akan tetap melakukan serangan. Sedangkan proposal kedua berasal dari para “penentang perang”, Perancis dan Jerman, yang mengajukan solusi damai atas Irak. Meski berbeda sikap dalam penyelesaian problem Irak, kedua proposal sangat jelas mengatakan bahwa terdapat pelanggaran terhadap Resolusi 1441Dewan Keamanan PBB, yang menyebutkan bahwa Irak harus memusnahkan semua program-program persenjataan nuklir, biologi, dan kimia.

  • How The Triumphant Americans Have Changed Our World (Again)

    A regime had fallen apart weeks ago, as its armed forces ceased to exist. Fierce resistance, heavy urban fighting, as offered and promised by Saddam and his P.R minister, are proven to be a whole daydream that only had been effectively illussioning many of Indonesian military commentators (while most of them are former TNI top-brass). Triumphant American soldiers, on foot, in their jeeps, tanks and APCs, were replacing photographs and news on civillian casualties (the collateral damage). As if there were no accountability of the fact that the bloods shed for the Iraqi Freedom were truly of those whom are claimed to be freed.
